Duties will include

• Responsible for coding for portal web sites with Java, XML, XSL, EJB, JSP, Servlets, HTML, JavaScript, and other J2EE technologies.
• Assist in testing new features / modules by developing test cases based on user specifications.
• Assist in the design of new features / modules which may involve:

• Assessing technical feasibility of product proposals
• Security / risk implications of product proposals
• Recommend and comparatively evaluate architectural approaches for implementation
• Produce ER designs, class diagrams etc.

Based in our Corporate Headquarters in Vancouver, BC, as a Developer, you will report to the Director, Professional Services and are responsible for, but not limited to:

• Selecting appropriate technologies for services development work
• Assisting with operational and technical requirements for custom applications work for Absolute’s customers
• Developing integration applications, to import and export data between Absolute’s hosted production databases and remote customer systems
• Developing custom applications to fulfill ad-hoc requirements on customer projects
• Building reports
• Carrying out functional, performance and integration testing of custom development work
• Documenting technical work according to standards
• Following team operational procedures, including time-reporting, document management administration, etc.
• Participation in customer facing requirements gathering sessions
• Estimation of project effort
• Contribution to Absolute’s corporate knowledge and best practices by creating or enhancing documentation and processes

Working out of our Thornhill Head Office location, this role supports the Information Technology department and reports to the Director of Technical Services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing Team members with appropriate professional development opportunities, consistent direction and clear reporting structure.
* Designing and implementing short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain network and telecom capacity meets existing and future requirements.
* Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for network resource and telecommunications administration and their appropriate uses.
* Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network and telecom systems performance and providing statistics and reports.
* Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
* Work with Director, Technical Services to prepare the Network and Telecommunications budget.
* Conduct research and make recommendations on network and telecommunications products, their services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
* Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network and telecom hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, PBX's, BCMs, extenders and so on.
* Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with IT Leadership regarding pertinent network activities.
* Ensure that the Business Recovery systems are maintained in a constant state of readiness.
* Negotiate contracts with vendors.
